LINUX COMMANDS

Let us shower some light on few Linux commands:

sudo: Super User DO

This command used as a prefix of some command that only superuser are allowed to run. If you prefix sudo with any command, it will run that command with elevated privileges or in other words allow a user with proper permissions to execute a command as another user, such as the superuser. This is the equivalent of “run as administrator” option in Windows. The option of sudo lets us have multiple administrators.

eg: If we want to change directory to etc. If we do cd/etc/ press enter. In etc you want to create a directory. If you make mkdir directoryname then it show you as denied permission because we need to use sudo to tell Linux as administrator.

If you do sudo mkdir newdirectoryname. It will ask for password. It is the password you set during installation as root password. Type password, It will not display on the screen.press enter. you can notice that directory been created.

If you want your terminal with root user to install applications or any functionality you would like to do as a administrator then you can use sudo -s, type password then you can notice that you are in root privilege. This indicates super user.
